Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh Gets OMPF Funding Boost

The municipality of Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh got an increase of 68-thousand dollars in its Ontario Municipal Partnership Funding this year.

Reeve Ben Van Diepenbeek says it marks the second consecutive year A-C-W has seen an increase after years of cuts. He's not sure why A-C-W has seen its funding increase but he hopes it continues. Van Deipenbeek adds his understanding is that the Province is going to continue providing OMPF funding to a cap of around 500-million dollars spread over about 300 municipalities so he believes once they get it down to the cap of 500-million it'll stay there.

“We were fortunate again this year to get an increase of 68-thousand over last year so, that's always good news when you get an increase. For the last four or five years, we've been getting cuts, significant cuts, but last year and this year again we've seen an increase, so hopefully that continues.”

“I think the Province is putting in around 500-million to 300 some odd municipalities, so I think once it get down to that 500-million, that's where they're going to leave it – from what I understand.”
