The Patriots jumped out to a four goal lead after the second period and beat Mitchell 8-1.
Ryley Cribbin scored twice and had an assist for Mount Forest. Brock Philips scored and set up two more for the Patriots.
Jake Finlayson scored midway through the third to spoil David Lobsinger's shut out bid.
Mount Forest was 2 for 3 on the power play and out shot Mitchell 39-34.
Tyler Parr took the loss for the Hawks.

Liam Melady's power play goal at 7:46 of the second stood as the game winner in the Exeter Hawks 3-1 win over Thamesford.
The Hawks also got goals from Evan Hayter and Nolan Koetsier. Justin McCarter set up two of the Hawks goals.
Garrett Hickey was the lone scorer for the Trojans.
