CKNX AM920 Morning Host Ready To 'Rough It' in Relief Truck

Midwestern Ontario's largest food collection project begins Friday morning.

CKNX AM920 morning host Buzz Reynolds will move into, and live in the back of a 53 ft tractor trailer until it's full of non-perishable food items.

He'll be broadcasting his morning show from the Relief Truck weekdays from 5:30am to 10am.

This year, there will be two Relief Trucks -- one parked at Dean's Valu-Mart in Wingham, and one at Hansen’s Independent Grocer in Exeter. Reynolds will be broadcasting from both locations.

The goal this year is to fill four trailers between the two locations.

All the non-perishable food and household products, plus cash donations, will go to the ten food banks in Huron County.

The success of the past two years is evident. There was involvement and participation from schools, sports teams, youth groups, service clubs, local businesses, larger corporations, and countless individuals.

Last year, the CKNX Relief Truck collection allowed all of the food banks in Huron to save on weekly purchasing, which opened the door to other improvements;  one example being the purchase and installation of a 400 cubic foot walk-in freezer at North Huron Food Share in Wingham, at a cost of over $35,000.
