Grants Confirmed For Grand Bend-area Transportation Study

The Grand Bend Transportation Feasibility Study Committee is ready to reach out to the public.

Spokesperson Glen Baillie explains they've received an eight thousand dollar grant from the Grand Bend and Area Community Foundation and an offer to match that from the Tourism Board of Southwestern Ontario.     That will give them a total of 16-thousand dollars.

They plan to use that money to help them prepare a questionnaire identifying the most urgent needs. That questionnaire will be distributed throughout the area in public places like libraries as well as on line and then they'll they hire a professional to create a proposal.

The questionnaire should be ready for distribution before Christmas and will be available until the end of January.

The eventual goal is to look at transportation services that would cover Grand Bend and area as well as parts of North Middlesex, Lambton, Perth and Huron counties.

Baillie explains, "There's going to be final approval on a questionnaire that's going to be distributed out, kind of determining what the most likely needs are going to need to be met and then we're going to get a proposal drafted by a professional."
