Stratford Perth Community Foundation Makes Presentation To Council

The Stratford Perth Community Foundation visited North Perth Council this week to remind everyone of their fundraising efforts for local foundations and causes.

Executive Director Tracey VanKalsbeek says the North Perth Smart and Caring Community Fund was their focus for council.

"This is a fund that anybody can give to, any amount, and the funds that are raised here in North Perth stay here, to provide support and cover issues of importance in this community," she says.

A three-year fundraising goal of $100,000 was established in 2015, and so far just over $58,000 has been raised toward the fund. VanKalsbeek says along with the local Legion, the local Big Brothers Big Sisters program has been aided by the funding already and are important to the community.

"Both those programs do provide folks in this community with a lot of help and support. Big Brothers Big Sisters obviously with kids that come from harder backgrounds, and they need a role model in their life and a mentor, so those programs are really important," she says. "They are a community hub to bring people together."
