The municipalities of Goderich and Bluewater are teaming up to host the 2019 Ontario Heritage Conference.
Bluwater Mayor Tyler Hessel says collaboration is the way of the future for all Huron County municipalities.
“This is the first time that Goderich and Bluewater have decided to work together and hold the Heritage Conference," he says. "We thought it'd be great and unique with the two significant heritage towns in Huron County holding the conference.”
Hessel says they're hoping for as many as 1,000 visitors from all over Ontario.
“One thing we are going to show off, which I think is something even our local people tend to miss sometimes [in the Bayfield area], is our agricultural heritage," he says. "I think that's such a strong part of our community and more and more we're getting acknowledgement about it and it'll give us a better push for tourism to have people go outside of our small tourist towns and look at our century farms.”
