International Plowing Match Closed To Public On Wednesday

IPM Secretary Lynne Godkin tells CKNX News that the 100th International Plowing Match & Rural Expo Grounds in Walton will be closed to the public on Wednesday.

Godkin says a meeting was held among IPM executive members and volunteers, where everyone was allowed to offer their opinion on the wet conditions that dominated the match on Tuesday.

A decision was made to close the grounds to the public, primarily for safety reasons. Godkin also noted several attending the meeting did not want to damage the land that had been so graciously offered to them.

Traffic and parking is also a major concern, with cars beginning to slip and become stuck in the mud by day's end.    A Service Road also had to be closed because of muddy, wet conditions.

The Brussels 4H show will now be held behind the Brussels Arena at the Livestock Bar, as opposed to the IPM grounds.

The competitive plowing will be going ahead on Wednesday, but may be delayed depending on the weather.
