Stratford and Listowel Win Twice at GOJHL Showcase

Stratford 4 Welland 2

The Stratford Warriors jumped out to an early one goal lead and went on to beat Welland 4-2 at the GOJHL Showcase in Brantford.

Kameron Shearer scored midway through the first to give the Warriors a one goal lead heading into the second period. Curtis Abbott and Jack Scanlan scored in the second to put the Warriors up 3-0.

Noah Blakely finally put Welland on the board at 4:34 of the third period. Graham Brulotte scored unassisted for Stratford at 13:06 of the final frame.

The Warriors out shot the Canadiens 42-23. Charles Grimard took the loss for Welland. Andrew Vigilatore earned the win with 22 saves for the Warriors.

Stratford won both of its games to start the GOJHL season.

St. Marys 4 Guelph 4

Clayton Lewis struck twice for St. Marys as they played the Guelph Hurricanes to a 4-4 tie in double overtime.

Kenny Chisholm put the Lincolns ahead at 12:32 of the final frame but Connor LePage forced extra innings with a goal with just over two minutes left in regulation.

The Lincoln's Evan Morrison stopped 30 shots. Trenton McGrail made 21 saves for the Hurricanes.

The Lincolns also suffered one loss at the Showcase to start the GOJHL season with an 0-1-1-0 record.

Listowel 5 LaSalle 2

Max Coyle set up three of the Cyclones goals and Chase Herrfort found the back of the net twice to give Listowel a 5-2 win over LaSalle.

Justin Hergott stopped 27 shots to earn the win. Dershahn Stewart made 19 saves for the Vipers.

Other scorers for Listowel: Mitch Deelstra, Caleb Warren and Holdyn Lansink.

The Cyclones were 1-4 on the power play while the Vipers were 2-6.

Listowel joins Stratford and Brampton as undefeated teams after the GOJHL Showcase.

London 5 Elmira 2

The Sugar Kings led 1-0 afer the first but let the lead slip, falling 5-2 to London.

Bailey Molella and Keanan Stewart scored for the Sugar Kings.

The Nationals were led by Brandon Glover with a pair of goals and two assists.

Jukka Schotter made 25 saves for London. Tyler Mazzocato stopped 30 shots for the Sugar Kings.

The Sugar Kings failed to pick up a win at the Showcase, going 0-2 to start the season.

Niagara Falls 6 Kitchener 2

The Niagara Falls Canucks jumped out to an early two goal lead and went on to beat Kitchener 6-2.

The Dutchmen got goals from Liam Hurley and Chris Taylor.

Patrick McCabe led the Canucks with two goals and three assists. Matthew Caruso had a goal and two assists in the win.

The Dutchmen split their weekend earning one win and suffering one loss to begin the GOJHL regular season.
