Union Gas Unveils Perth East Expansion

The first community expansion project from Union Gas was officially unveiled in Milverton Thursday.

Construction on the pipeline from Sebringville began in August, and Milverton will be ready for gas delivery in December.

Mayor Bob McMillan of Perth East says it's an exciting opportunity for residents.

"It's really a great feeling that into the future, lots of people will be saving money. There's a huge potential for expansion and economic development, but right now, the people that have farms, businesses and homes will be saving a lot of money if they choose to hook up," he says.

Stephen Jelich, the Union Gas district manager for the Sarnia/London area, says there are a number of factors that make natural gas a great option for Perth East residents.

"We have over 100 years of experience delivering safe and reliable energy, and I think the other key is the price," says Jelich. "It's abundant, it's safe, it's affordable, and it's reliable. I think those four criteria make it a winner."

The expansion to Rostock and Wartburg will be complete and ready by the end of spring 2018.

Union Gas is encouraging residents to apply now for hookups, as their cutoff for 2017 applications is October 31.  You can visit SaveWithGas.ca for more info.

An information kiosk will be set up starting September 11 by Union Gas in the Perth East Rec Centre in Milverton for any residents who have questions about converting to natural gas.
