Goderich Residents Urged To Vote Often Today And Tomorrow

Voting for the Kraft Heinz Project Play contest starts Friday at noon.

Goderich is one of four Canadian finalists with a chance to win $250,000 to upgrade a recreational facility.

For Goderich, that's the Agricultural Park -- a facility that spokesperson Steve Hewitt says hasn't seen any major upgrades for 40 year.

Several retailers in Goderich have set up stations where people can vote and he urges Goderich residents to vote often. He says it's going to take hundreds of thousands of votes to win the contest.

Hewitt says aside from the retailers, there will be a voting station at the Maitland Rec. Centre all day Saturday, and Microage Basics has set up touch screen that allows people to vote as often as they want.

Voting closes at 11:59pm Saturday night.

Construction is scheduled to start on the upgrades at the Ag. Park in Goderich later this fall and the plan includes three new ball diamonds, a new soccer pitcher, a skate park, a playground, a pavilion and a covered shelter.

According to Hewitt, "This is a huge project for Goderich and one we've been waiting for for many, many years."
