Wellington County OPP are investigating a suspicious crate in Mount Forest.
Earlier on Thursday, at 11:30am Wellington County OPP and Wellington North Fire Service responded to a report of a suspicious wooden crate in a vacant lot behind a business on Durham St. W. Workers discovered the crate and could not tell if it contained any hazardous substances.
The business in question was partially evacuated, and part of Foster St. was closed, until the all clear was given later Thursday afternoon.
Emergency services have since removed potentially hazardous materials, including spent fuel tanks and fertilizers. However, police say there is nothing to indicate that the placement of the crate was meant to be malicious.
Police are continuing to investigate the source of the package.
