Goderich Committee Hoping For Second Round In Kraft-Heinz Contest

The Goderich entry in the Kraft-Heinz Project Play contest has made it through the first stage.

The contest asks for nominations for projects involving areas used for sports and recreation.

The project for the Goderich committee is an upgrade to the Agricultural Park,  and committee volunteer Steve Hewitt says their project received more votes in the first phase than any project throughout Canada.

"It has not had any major upgrades in the last 40 years," says Hewitt. "1977 was the last time there was anything major done to that park and we are in dire need of some upgrades from drainage to field covering for baseball, new pitch for soccer, irrigation."

The second phase of the contest takes place on September 4. At half-time of the CFL football game between Toronto and Hamilton on TSN,  they will announce the final four projects.  All of those projects will receive $20,000.

Hewitt says voting for the final winner will start on September 8 and run through to midnight on September 9. It will be done online, and people will be able to vote as often as they like.

The winning entry will receive $250,000.
