Grey County In International Spotlight

One of the founders of an organization that's considering Grey County as the top intelligent community in the world is touring the county this week.

Louis Zacharilla is with the Intelligent Community Forum based in New York City.

Grey County is on the short list of seven communities in the world the organization considers to be using technology to enhance economic development and quality of life.

Zacharilla says just by being in the top seven Grey County sets an example.

"Grey County actually has a lot on its shoulders because it's going to show the rest of the world that it's possible to live in a place where you've got 90,000 people or whatever, a lot of land and you're not a dense urban environment and still do the types of things socially and economically that are required to create jobs and keep young people home in the 21st century," says Zacharilla.

Zacharilla toured Hanover's Youth Activity and Technology Centre called Launch Pad.

The winner of the top intelligent community in the world will be announced in New York City on June 8.

The other cities on the short list are: Chiayi, Taiwan Edmonton, Alberta Ipswich, Queensland, Australia Melbourne, Australia Moscow, Russia Taoyuan, Taiwan
