Police in Stratford encountered some resistance during an arrest Wednesday.
On the strength of two outstanding warrants, officers attempted to arrest a 37-year-old man in the area of Lorne Ave. and Wright Blvd. However, the suspect allegedly tried to escape, striking an officer and a police vehicle with his vehicle before being stopped and arrested.
The officer suffered a minor leg injury.
At the time of his arrest, the man allegedly had quantities of methamphetamine and marijuana in his possession, and over $10,000 in counterfeit Canadian and American currency.
The suspect is facing charges of dangerous driving, possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a substance, assault with a weapon, resisting arrest, and possession of counterfeit money.
His bail hearing was scheduled for Thursday in Stratford court.
