There's good news from Wiarton.
Canada's most famous groundhog emerged from his burrow shortly after 8am on Thursday with his spring forecast.
He did not see his shadow and communicated to South Bruce Peninsula officials that spring is just a few weeks away.
The Wiarton Willie Festival kicked of earlier Thursday morning with fireworks, entertainment, and a free pancake breakfast in the Wiarton arena. There are more activities through the day.

Nova Scotia's Shubenacadie Sam emerged from his small barn Thursday morning, and officials declared that the groundhog did not see his shadow either. That means spring is on the way for that part of the country as well.

But American counterpart Punxsutawney Phil had some less welcome news. The groundhog communicated to hundreds gathered at Gobbler's Knobb in Pennsylvania, that they can expect six more weeks of winter.
