Illegal Deer Hunting In Howick Township

The Ministry of Natural Resources is investigating a case of illegal hunting in Howick Township.

Last Saturday morning, conservation officers and a canine unit were called to a property on Gough Rd., east of Fordwich near Mud Lake Line.

Officers found a badly-wounded adult white-tailed deer which had to be put down. Evidence at the scene suggested the deer had been shot with a small-calibre rifle.

The open season for deer closed on December 31.

The ministry is looking for information from anyone who may have witnessed the activity or has information regarding the individual that committed the violation.

The MNRF TIPS line is 1-877-847-7667 toll-free any time, or you can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
