Listowel Crabby Joe’s Set To Host Annual Christmas Day Dinner
Christmas Day just wouldn’t be the same for many without the traditional Christmas Dinner and every year, one Listowel based business owner goes out of his way to make that a reality for those who might miss out.
Now in his 10th year, Dean Darrah will once again host a free Christmas Dinner at his Crabby Joe’s restaurant in downtown Listowel and the best part is, it’s open to everyone and anyone.
The traditional yuletide meal comes complete with turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, vegetables and all the trimmings and Darrah makes sure that he cooks enough for at least 100 people.
“We make lots [of food] probably for about a hundred and if there’s any extras we send it out to shelters. We just make tons and if it’s left we make sure it finds a home,” says Darrah.
The door is open to anyone who wants to volunteer their time and help out and in past years, there’s been been no shortage of help or participation in the event.
“We have lots of room for volunteers, I always encourage people to come out, you know, it’s a good feel,” adds Darrah.
The Annual Crabby Joe’s Christmas Dinner runs from 1pm until 3pm on Christmas Day (December 25th, 2016) at Crabby Joe’s in Listowel (110 Main St., Listowel, ON).
The dinner has become such a tradition that Darrah even brings his whole family down to take part in the 2 hour event.
And the best part is, the smiles on people’s faces at Christmas time.
