Canadiens Alumni Coming To Durham Arena

The Montreal Canadiens Alumni team is rolling into the Durham Arena Saturday night for a special game.

Tom Hutchinson helped spearhead a year-long effort to get the Canadiens to come to West Grey, and says the idea behind it was to give the community something special.

"The young hockey players in our system, it's nice for them to look up to these guys coming here, that have had successful careers, and that's what it's really about. It's also about bringing the community all together," he says.

Hutchinson says he's excited that the game is finally here after a year of hard work putting it together. On top of being a great event for Durham and the West Grey community as a whole, Hutchinson says it's exciting for him as well, being a big Canadiens fan.

"It's a thrill for me because I'm an old Habs fan as well. A lot of these guys were Cup winners, and guys who pioneered the NHL for our era," he says. "Obviously there were lots that came before them, but they will certainly leave their mark here."

The Canadiens Alumni will play just after 7pm Saturday night, after a meet-and-greet autograph session, following a minor hockey day at Durham Arena. General admission tickets are still available for $25, at Johnny K Sports in Hanover or at the arena doors, first come first serve.

The Montreal Canadiens line up will include Richard Sevigny, Keith Acton, Stephane Richer, Patrice Brisebois, Gilbert Delorme, Francis Bouillon, Jocelyn Lemieux, Normand Dupont, Oleg Petrov, Chris Nilan and Coach Yvon Lambert. Guest Players- Tim Mellish, Bill Griffin.
