New Perth County OPP Staff Sergeant Has Local Roots

The Perth County OPP detachment has a new second-in-command.

Staff Sergeant Stephane Pilon has returned to the County to replace retired Staff Sergeant Joel Skelding, who served Perth County in that role for 10 years.

Staff Sergeant Pilon has 25 years of policing experience.   He joined the OPP in 1992 as a Constable at the Rockland Detachment.   He was promoted to Sergeant in Perth County in 2008, and moved up the ranks while serving the Municipality of North Perth and the Municipality of West Perth.

In 2013 he was promoted to staff sergeant at the Moosonee Detachment.  He managed the Moosonee Detachment for the past three years, until his recent return to Perth County.

"I pleased to be back here in Perth County since I have many friends, acquaintances, and contacts here," says Pilon. "This has been a great place to work for me in the past and I look forward to getting re-acquainted with local Police Services Boards, elected officials, numerous local organizations and members of the public.

"My tasks here will be those of managing human resources with an emphasis is on the wellness of our officers, as well as involvement in the continued evolving standards as they are set throughout the province in relation to crime, traffic and drug enforcement."
