Walkerton Hires a New Assistant Coach

The Walkerton Hawks are gearing up for the upcoming Junior C season and not just with players.

The team signed Bill Brown to return as head coach earlier this season.

"Any  time you can bring a guy like Bill Brown back with the experience he's got you're ahead of the game in that regard," says General Manger Steve Barrett, "Landing coaches in our experience is a nightmare. There's no other way to describe it."

The Hawks have also added another tactician.

Scott Pettigrew will join the team as an assistant - he's a former Junior C coach with the Brussels Bulls and has also coached in the Huron-Perth Lakers organization.

Barrett says Pettigrew and Brown will be a good fit together.

"They know each other well and they've coach a little bit summer hockey together before so they know they will compliment each other and they will fit well."

Former Walkerton Hawk defenseman Jordan Turcotte returns as an assistant coach. Turcotte was a key player in the Hawks' four consecutive Schmalz Cup appearances between the 2009-10 and 2012-13 seasons.
