The Launch Pad Youth Activity and Tech Centre in Hanover is getting improvements.
Project manager Jacinda Rudolph explains the Launch Pad is a regional centre, focusing on youth 12-18 years old. If offers different skill-building opportunities for young people, ranging from technical skills, to inter-personal skills.
Rudolph says the idea behind teaching these skills is to help youth succeed in finding employment, building connections locally, and charting a career path.
Rudolph says one new feature in the coming update is the "Backspace" area.
"We started renovations on July 11 for the back bay area. It was previously a recreational space, we held some events in there," she says. "Now we are actually building a commercial learning kitchen. Also, we are getting welding equipment, for a trade space area. The main event space will be fixed up as well, so we can host fundraising events, and have a space for youth voices to be heard."
Rudolph says they are planning a grand re-opening for the Launch Pad Centre, hopefully around the end of September. The Centre is open 3:30pm to 8pm, Tuesday to Friday.
