Ontario Miss Midwest Pageant Tomorrow Night

The Knights of Columbus hall between Mildmay and Walkerton will host the annual Ontario Miss Midwest pageant tomorrow night.

Co-ordinator Barb MacArthur spoke with CKNX about how a winner will be determined, and what responsibilities come with being named Queen.

"I have judges for both categories, the ten junior competitors and the 17 senior girls, as well. They will be judged and picked like most competitions," she says. "The winners will then represent Wellington, Bruce, Huron, Grey and Perth counties. Actually, the two new title-holders will be on the road with us next week to start touring and attending numerous events and fundraisers until next July."

The 2015-16 Miss Midwest, Tiffany Lenselink, will be in attendance to receive a cheque for her fundraising efforts. The senior Queen must raise money through her year for a charity they choose. Lenselink chose Ronald Macdonald House in Hamilton, in memory of her cousin Nolan who spent parts of six years there, and tragically passed away. Lenselink made it her goal to raise $6,000 in his memory.

MacArthur says Lenselink isn't aware of the final total for tomorrow night.

"A representative from Ronald McDonald House will be in attendance to present Tiffany the cheque for her outstanding fundraising efforts," says MacArthur. "We don't want to reveal the number as we want to keep it a surprise for her, but she will be blown away, and I'm very proud of her efforts."

The doors will open for the event tomorrow night at the Knights of Columbus hall at 6:30pm, and the pageant begins at 7pm. Anyone from the public is welcome to attend.
