Bayfield Washrooms To Open Through Winter

The public washrooms in the village of Bayfield are going to be reopened through the winter season.

Bayfield Councillor Bill Whetstone says  the washrooms have been closed through the winter to avoid a cost of about $200 a week to have staff clean them.

But he points out when Bayfield merchants are doing their best to remain open for as long as they can throughout the winter, closing the washrooms creates the impression that the village is closed for the winter.

Whetstone says some stores choose to close for part of the winter but the washrooms are necessary for the stores that remain open. They are also necessary for their customers as well as local residents who go for walks along the main street.

Council has voted to reopen the washrooms.

Whetstone adds there is some potential for working with the library on a schedule that would see the public washrooms close when the library is open and open when the library is closed.
