Two Wins for Quebec Despite Injured Skip

A dislocated shoulder didn't stop Quebec skip Félix Asselin from leading his rink to two more victories in the championship round at the Canadian Junior Men's Curling Championship.

The 21-year-old right-handed skip dislocated his right shoulder Wednesday night playing table tennis at the players' hotel and spent three hours in hospital overnight getting it treated.

A few hours before Quebec's crucial game against New Brunswick, Asselin showed up for physio at the Stratford Rotary Complex and decided he could play with the shoulder.

After a rough start to the game, Asselin threw for three in the 10th end for a 10-9 win over New Brunswick. Asselin's rink went on to defeat British Columbia 8-1.

The top three teams will make it to the playoffs. Quebec is now in fourth at 6-3. British Columbia is in third at 7-2.

Northern Ontario and Manitoba are tied for the lead after Tanner Hogan's rink defeated the previously unbeaten Manitoba squad 7-5 in Draw 14.

In Women's action there is a two way tie for first place. Abby Ackland's Manitoba rink defeated Saskatchewan 6-5 in Draw 13 and lost 8-5 to British Columbia in Draw 14.

That leaves B.C. and Nova Scotia tied at 8-1. Manitoba is second at 7-2.

Ontario's Courtney Auld unseated New Brunswick from the top three with a 10-4 win over Fredericton's Justine Comeau.
