Wage/Compensation Disparity Could Slow CCAC To LHIN Shift

The CEO of the Huron-Perth Healthcare Alliance says the shift of responsibility for delivering home care service from Community Care Access Centres to the Local Health Interation Network could be a good thing if it brings planning closer to the local level and the patient.

But Andrew Williams points out one potentially contentious issue could be the disparity in wages and compensation between the various labour groups involved. Williams says whether that’s good or bad it is the reality and in any attempt to bring two groups together that has to be part of the discussion.

Williams adds the system has to be set up in a way that supports what they’re doing now or introduces the legislative support that allows them to move in another direction.
