Goderich council has tabled a request for a zoning change on the property that is the home of the LCBO and the former Shoppers Drug Mart.
Council heard the proposed project would include development behind the LCBO and more retail outlets inside of the former Shoppers building.
Mayor Kevin Morrison explains current zoning requires any retail stores under ten-thousand square feet must be located in the downtown core, but the developers are asking for a change from highway commercial to group commercial so they can put retail stores of about 2,000 sq ft inside the former Shoppers Drug Mart building.
Morrison points out the BIA is opposed to the request and it was tabled until the next council meeting so they can get more information.
Morrison believes there is room for more retail development in Goderich.
