Police are reminding residents to be extra vigilant and mindful of scams this time of year, both online and over the telephone.
Perth County OPP Constable Kees Wijnands says the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre's web site can be extremely helpful to residents looking for information.
He says it is a great tool to help the public become aware of the various types of scams out there and how to react if you do receive such calls or emails from potential scammers.
"I would actually encourage the public to go on their website," says Wijnands. "It actually gives you all types of frauds that are currently going around, some of the big ones that are really active right now and active in your area."
Wijnands adds catching these culprits is no easy task. He says investigators with the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre work around the clock to catch these scammers.
