EPCOR Starting Information Sessions On Natural Gas Pipeline Proposals

Residents in Huron-Kinloss, Kincardine and surrounding areas have a chance tonight and tomorrow to learn more about the long-awaited natural gas utility project.

Representatives from EPCOR Utilities, Stantec Consulting, and the affected municipalities in southern Bruce County will be on hand for a public information session this evening in Ripley. It runs from 5pm to 8pm at the Ripley-Huron Community Centre, with a detailed presentation scheduled for 7pm.

A similar information session will be held Saturday afternoon at the Kincardine Administration Centre, running from 1pm to 4pm, with a formal presentation at 1:30pm.

EPCOR is proposing to construct a 75 km natural gas pipeline from the Wingham Meter Station to the Bruce Industrial Park north of Tiverton, by way of Lucknow, Ripley, Kincardine and Tiverton.

EPCOR's second proposed local project is a 35 km natural gas transmission segment from the Dornoch Meter Station, through Chesley to Paisley. The information session on that pipeline segment was held Thursday night at the Chesley Community Centre.

It's expected to be early 2017 before any actual construction would begin on either project.
