This announcement comes after a standout year for the Bolts. The team had a 20-4 regular season record and ended up winning the 2022 National Basketball League of Canada championship over the Kitchener Waterloo Titans.

The London team is eager to defend its title in the 2023 season.

“Lightning fans can expect some familiar and some new faces this year, but the style of basketball does not change," said Plumb. "It takes what it takes to win year to year and that does not change. We will play team first basketball, we will be tough, we will make extra efforts and we will be very versatile and in great shape."

After joining the coaching staff in 2016, Plumb stepped into the role of head coach in 2019. He is only the second head coach in franchise history to come back for a third season. Michael Ray Richardson held the position from 2011-2014.

The 2023 season kicks off for the Bolts with a Championship Banner and Ring Ceremony on January 19 at their home game versus the Sudbury Five.
