Knights sign top 2019 under-18 draft pick

The London Knights have brought on board one of the pieces of its future lineup.

The team announced Wednesday that it had signed centre Jacob Chantler, their first-round draft pick from the 2019 OHL U-18 Priority Selection. Chantler was the 19th pick overall.

"We are excited to officially welcome Jacob to the London Knights organization. Being a hometown kid and growing up as a Knights fan, it's a very special moment for him and his family," said Knights General Manager and Co-Owner Mark Hunter. "Jacob brings an intensity to our lineup that will help energize our team."

Chantler grew up in London and played 43 games of the 2019-2020 season with the GOJHL London Nationals. He scored 14 goals for 36 points and had 45 penalty minutes.

The Knights completed training camp last week and have begun the preseason, with their next preseason matchup on September 17 at the Hamilton Bulldogs. The regular season begins October 8 when London hosts the Owen Sound Attack.
