The London Knights defeated the Saginaw Spirit 5-2 in their last game of the regular season on Saturday.
It wasn't until 10:19 into the first period until the Spirit's Cole Perfetti opened the scoring. Evan Bouchard of the London Knights scored 15:45 into the first period, tying up the game.
The Knights' Kevin Hancock scored 3:05 into the second period, but Saginaw's DJ Busdeker answered for the Spirit, putting the teams at another tie. Hancock broke the tie 15:36 into the second period.
Paul Cotter scored for the Knights to make 4-2 before Nathan Dunkley netted the Knights fifth goal of the game at 17:39 of the third periods.
Knights goaltender Jordan Kooy stopped 33 out of 35 shots on net.
The Knights clinch edfirst overall in the Western Conference with 99 points.
The Spirit came a close second with 96 points.
