Saint John rips Lightning 111-87

The struggling Saint John Riptide stopped the London Lightning Saturday night.

Frank Bartley led all scorers with 27 points as the Riptide beat the Lightning 111-87 at Budweiser Gardens. The Lightning fall to 4-3 on the season, while Saint John improves to 2-5.

Despite Saint John having the ability to keep pace with London's offence, the Lightning had a slight lead after one quarter. The Riptide came back and held a 51-47 lead at halftime. After that Saint John continued to build on its lead , holding London to just 20 points in each of the two remaining quarters.

Kemy Osse added 16 points off the bench for Saint John, and Daniel Dingle sank 15. Osse also led the Riptide in rebounds with eight.

Only two of London's starters scored double-digit points. Marcus Capers led the Lightning with 14 points off the bench. Starter Maurice Bolden contributed 13, while Xavier Moon and Marvell Waithe each scored 11. Jelan Kendrick's eight rebounds led London defensively.

London hosts the Kitchener-Waterloo Titans Sunday afternoon.
