Knights defeat Rangers 6-2 Saturday

Connor McMichael scored twice as the London Knights beat the Kitchener Rangers 6-2 at Budweiser Gardens Saturday afternoon.

Adam Boqvist added three assists for London, who pulled into a tie with the Owen Sound Attack in the OHL Midwest Division, each with 11 points as of the end of the contest.

The Knights jumped to a 2-0 lead for the first period on goals from Sahil Panwar, his first of the season, and the second of the year from Billy Moskal.

London extended their lead to three goals in the middle frame when Cole Tymkin scored a power play goal. Kitchener got on the board at 10:35 on a Joseph Garreffa score, but McMichael's short-handed lamplighter before the intermission put London up by a trio of goals. Rangers goalie Luke Richardson was pulled after the second period and replaced with Lucas Pfeil.

Jonathan Yantsis cut the Rangers' deficit to two goals when he put the puck in at 54 seconds into the third period, but the Knights put the game out of reach with two more goals. Nathan Dunkley scored his third of the season and McMichael scored his second goal of the afternoon later in the frame.

Jordan Kooy stopped 23 shots in net for the Knights. Richardson and Pfeil combined for 33 saves for Kitchener.

London travels to Sarnia Sunday afternoon and takes on the Sting.
