Knights Quell the Storm 5-1

Max Jones scored twice as the London Knights beat the Storm in Guelph 5-1 Sunday afternoon.

It's the second straight win for the Knights, who now have 26 points and sit in fourth place in the OHL Midwest Division. It's also their fifth win in the last six games.

There was no scoring in the first period, though there were plenty of penalties to go around. Each team had two power play opportunities in the opening frame.

Evan Bouchard broke the scoreless tie on the power play, finding the net at 6:47 in the second period. Jones then scored his two goals back to back to give London a 3-0 lead after 40 minutes of play.

Cliff Pu continued the scoring streak at 37 ticks into the third period with his 12th goal of the season. Guelph finally got on the board soon after with Cedric Ralph's ninth of the year. Alex Formenton added a goal for the Knights to put the game out of reach.

London's Joseph Raaymakers stopped all of Guelph's 29 shots except one between the pipes. Anthony Popovich had 31 saves for the Storm.

The Knights welcome the Oshawa Generals to Budweiser Gardens Friday night.
