Bouchard Winner Lifts Knights 3-2

It took just 27 seconds of overtime for the London Knights to beat the Saginaw Spirit.

Evan Bouchard got the puck past Saginaw goalie Evan Cormier for a 3-2 victory at the Dow Event Center. The win evens the Knights' record in the young season at 1-1.

Adrian Carbonara scored first in the opening period with his second goal of the season, putting the Knights on the board at 6:39. London maintained the one-goal advantage until the middle of the second period when Max Grondin tied things up.

The two teams exchanged goals in the third period. The Knights took a 2-1 lead at 1:35 in the third period when Josh Nelson put his second puck of the year into the net. That lead did not last long as Saginaw's Kyle Bollers scored the equalizer just 24 seconds later.

Bouchard scored in overtime with the assistance of Cliff Pu, who had two assists in the game.

Jordan Kooy stopped 39 out of 41 shots for the win in goal for London. The Spirit's Cormier had 24 saves.

The Knights hit the road and play the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds Sunday afternoon.
