Knights Double Up the Sting 4-2

Cliff Pu scored two goals as the London Knights beat the Sarnia Sting 4-2 Saturday night at Progressive Auto Sales Arena.

Entering the game, the Knights had 43 points, good for second place in the OHL Midwest Division standings.  The Sting were in third place in the West Division with 35 points.

The first period was scoreless, and the Knights were on the power play three times in the opening frame, but failed to capitalize.  London had a single man-advantage at 18:18 of the period, which became a five-on-three advantage one minute and seven seconds later.  The Knights were unable to cash in on the two-man edge.

It did not take long for the Knights to get on the board in the second period, as Owen MacDonald scored at 1:59 for his sixth goal of the year.  Anthony Salinitri would tie it up for Sarnia over four minutes later.  London's Cliff Pu would put the Knights in the lead again at 13:38 with his 20th goal of the season, so the Knights went back to the locker room at the second intermission with a 2-1 lead.

In the third period, Sarnia's Troy Lajeunesse would tie the game up again at 2:56 on the power play.  That would be his ninth goal of the season.  The back-and-forth affair would continue later in the period as Evan Bouchard picked up his first goal of the season at 15:57.  Pu's second goal of the evening was an empty-netter with just a second left in regulation.

Tyler Parsons was the winning goalie for London, stopping 28 out of 30 Sting shots.  Justin Fazio took the loss for Sarnia.

The Knights will host the Kitchener Rangers Sunday night at Budweiser Gardens, while the Sting welcomes the Flint Firebirds to town Thursday.
