Majors Fall To Maple Leafs

The London Majors suffered their first loss in the playoffs last night, falling 7-4 to the Toronto Maple Leafs at Labatt Park.

The loss put an end to the Majors' 14-game undefeated streak.

The Majors were up 4-3 heading into the eighth inning, but the Maple Leafs were able to tie it up when Toronto's  Jonathan Solazzo doubled home Sean Mattson off Braeden Ferrington, brought in to relieve starter Cory Hammond.  London went to the bullpen again and brought in Owen Boon.  The Leafs took the decisive lead when Boon threw a wild pitch with the bases loaded, allowing two runners to score. A ground rule double brought home one more, making the final score 7-4.

At the plate for London, Kyle Gormandy went 2-for-2 with an RBI and run. Carlos Arteaga had the other RBI. Michael Ambrose and LeJon Baker each singled and scored once.

London leads the semifinal series 2-1, Game 4 is Wednesday night in Toronto.
