Let The Games Begin

The 2014 Ontario Summer Games are officially underway in Windsor after 2,500 athletes from across the province received a warm welcome at the University of Windsor’s Alumni Stadium.
The athletes will take part in 19 events at venues across the city. For many, it is a step towards a future at the Canada Games, the Pan American Games and eventually, the Olympics.
LaSalle’s Danielle Wade sang the national anthem opening the entertainment portion of the opening ceremonies. Interpretive dancers and trapeze artists impressed the athletes.
Windsor offered to host the games last October after the Niagara Region withdrew from the event.
The 2016 games have been awarded to Mississauga.
