Lane restrictions begin June 5 in Masonville Mall area

If you frequent Fanshawe Park Road close to Masonville Mall during your daily drive, you can expect to see lane restrictions in the area starting Monday.

Construction for an improvement project at the intersection of Fanshawe Park Road and Richmond Street begins June 5, and will require lane restrictions in both directions of Richmond Street between Jacksway Crescent and North Centre Road.

As the work progresses, channelled lanes and restrictions will also be put in place east and west of Fanshawe Park Road between the Richmond Street intersection and west of North Centre Road.

"Drivers travelling northbound and southbound on Richmond Street are advised to expect delays and are encouraged to use alternative routes where possible, and to plan ahead by using navigation apps such as Waze or Google Maps. Signs will be installed to help guide traffic through the area," read a statement from the City of London.

The city said pedestrian access will be maintained throughout construction on at least one side of the road. Cyclists are encouraged to use alternative routes when possible, and may be required to dismount and walk through certain parts of the construction zone.

Those who take the bus to and from Masonville Mall will still be able to use the terminal during the construction. However, some LTC routes may be impacted during construction.

All businesses and the mall will remain open with access maintained during the project.

"Restrictions are anticipated to be in place until approximately December," according to the city.
