Second crash this week results in London Police laying impaired driving charge

For the second time this week, London Police say they've charged somebody for driving drunk and running from the scene of a crash.

This incident happened on Wednesday morning.

Police say the collision happened around 4:30 a.m. near the intersection of Adelaide Street and Thompson Road.

Officers were called to the area and when they arrived found that an SUV had hit a hydro pole, a light standard, a fire hydrant, and a stop sign - damage is estimated at $13,000.

After the collision, the driver ran from the scene, but police made an arrest soon after.

On Thursday, police stated a 25-year-old London man was charged with impaired operation of a conveyance, impaired operation exceeding blood alcohol concentration, and fail to stop at scene of an accident.

It was the second time on Thursday that police announced charges for impaired driving and running from the scene.

The other incident involved driver who took off after crashing into a north London home, injuring one person, and was allegedly drunk at the time.
