London police investigate shots fired in city's core

London police are investigating after a gun was fired near the downtown core early Sunday morning.

Police responded to reports of gunshots near Oxford Street East and Richmond Street at approximately 2:45 a.m. Sunday.

Officers found evidence that a gun had been fired in the area but were unable to locate any victims at the time.

Police were notified shortly after the incident that two victims had attended the hospital with suspected gunshot wounds.

Officers located the two victims, who were both treated for non-life-threatening injuries, as a result of gunshot wounds.

Police said the investigation is being led by the major crime section.

Investigators are asking anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident to contact the police. Anyone with a dashcam or other video surveillance in the area is also asked to contact investigators.

The public is being asked to call the London Police Service at (519) 661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Information can also be sent in online anonymously to London Elgin Middlesex Crime Stoppers.
