Death in northwest London deemed a homicide, one man charged

London Police say they've arrested a suspect in the city's third murder of the year.

At around 4:30 p.m. Thursday, police say emergency crews responded to a report of a female without vital signs at a home on Redoak Avenue, a residential street west of Wonderland Road North between Oxford Street West and Beaverbrook Avenue.

When officers arrived, they found a 69-year-old woman with serious injuries, who was pronounced dead a short time later. She has not been identified.

Earlier this week, police said they had identified a person of interest who was in custody.

On Friday, he was identified as Jonathan Lee Alfred Halfyard, 37, of London.

Halfyard is charged with second degree murder, and he was scheduled to appear in court on Friday.

This is the city's third murder of 2023.

Two people are charged in the death of Jordan Levi Brown, who was found in a drainage ditch near Wharncliffe Road and Baseline Road in March.

Two people are also charged in the murder of Joel Cameron, who was stabbed at a Kipps Lane apartment building in March.
