Police probe sudden death in northwest London

Police say one person is in custody relating to the sudden death of a woman found at a residence in northwest London.

At around 4:30 p.m. Thursday, police say emergency crews responded to a report of a female without vital signs at a home on Redoak Avenue, a residential street tucked in the area west of Wonderland Road North between Oxford Street West and Beaverbrook Avenue.

When officers arrived, they found the woman with serious injuries. She was pronounced dead a short time later. Police have not specified the cause of her wounds.

Members of the London Police Service Major Crime Section say they have since identified, and located a person of interest relating to the investigation. They remain in police custody as of late Thursday evening.

"Police believe this was an isolated incident and, at this time, there does not appear to be any risk to public safety," read a statement from London police.

The investigation remains ongoing by members of the Major Crime Section. Police say more details about the case will be released as they become available.
