London pair accused of vehicle theft arrested in Brant County

A pair of 29-year-old Londoners are facing multiple charges after being arrested by Brant County OPP on Wednesday.

Police said a vehicle that was reported stolen out of Elgin County was spotted traveling through Brant County on the morning of March 22.

Officers were able to track the vehicle and receive location updates via Global Positioning System (GPS), as explained by OPP.

Police said they initially found the vehicle on Cockshutt Road, but it quickly fled the area.

A short time after, a passerby noticed the vehicle along Brant Road and notified police. Once officers located the vehicle, one person was arrested.

The second suspect was later discovered sleeping inside a nearby home by the owner of the residence.

As a result of the investigation, one of the accused has been charged with possessing stolen property over $5,000, trespassing at night, and shoplifting.

The other 29-year-old involved in the incident is accused of possessing stolen property over $5,000, breaking and entering, shoplifting, and failing to comply with their probation order.

Police are continuing their investigation and believe there could be further charges laid.

Both of the accused will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Brantford at a later date.
