UPDATE: Over $66K in drugs seized after east London house fire

Red fentanyl, crack cocaine and a handful of ammunition were found inside of a home that caught fire in east London over the weekend.

Firefighters were called to the two-storey red brick house at 1040 Trafalgar Street near Hamilton Road and Egerton Street just after 11:10 a.m. Sunday.

Two people made it out of the burning home unharmed and the blaze was extinguished by fire crews, London police said.

A damage estimate has not been provided and the cause remains under investigation.

Fire officials and police searching the home following the fire seized a 10 mm handgun magazine containing ten rounds of 10 mm ammunition, 197.3 grams of suspected red fentanyl, 57 grams of suspected crack cocaine, 10 Hydrophone pills, 233 Dilauded pills, 30 Oxycodone pills, Codeine pills, and two digital scales.

The total value of the drugs found is estimated at $66,625, according to police.

A 29-year-old London man has been charged with one count of possession of ammunition contrary to prohibition order and seven counts of possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking. He is scheduled to appear in London court in relation to the charges on Monday.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 519-661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
