19-year-old woman identified as driver killed in south London crash

The driver killed in a serious two-vehicle crash near Lambeth Wednesday night has been identified as a 19-year-old London woman.

Chloe Elizabeth MacKenzie was one of five people hurt when the two vehicles collided on Bostwick Road between Southdale and Wharncliffe roads around 7:20 p.m. She later died in hospital from her injuries, London police said.

The four others hurt in the crash had injuries ranging from serious to life-threatening.

MacKenzie is being remembered by her former cheerleading squad, the London Heat, as being a "bright light."

"We are sending our love to her family and all of our coaching staff and athletes," the Heat said in a post on social media. "[MacKenzie] found joy in everything and what we can do now is continue living the Chloe way - with love, joy, and kindness."

Police also extended their condolences to the woman's family and friends on Friday.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the police traffic management unit.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 519) 661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
