Thousands of sweaters, hoodies recalled over flammability concerns

Canadians with Helly Hansen sweaters and hoodies are being told to immediately stop wearing the tops.

Health Canada issued a recall of 27 different styles of the sweaters and hoodies on Wednesday due to concerns they pose a flammability hazard.

"The affected products, which incorporate brushed cotton fabrics that have undergone a specific treatment, either do not or may not comply with the textile flammability regulations," the national health agency said.

The 128,680 recalled sweaters and hoodies were sold in Canada between August 2019 and 2022.

As of January 9, there have been no reported injuries or incidents linked to the affected products.

Anyone who has one of the recalled shirts is advised to immediately stop using it and to contact the company for a replacement credit.
