Crash closes part of Wharncliffe, hydro lines damaged

Drivers who utilize Wharncliffe Road during their evening drive may have ran into longer delays than usual on Tuesday.

Shortly after 5 p.m., London police closed Wharncliffe Road, just north of Riverside Drive between Kensington and Mount Pleasant avenues due to a collision.

While it's not yet clear what caused the crash, hydro lines in the area were jostled and damaged which required hydro crews to be called in to clear the scene.

No injuries have been reported.

Wharncliffe commuters may have also experienced delays shortly before the closure near Springbank Drive after fire crews responded to a pickup truck on fire. It has not been confirmed if the two incidents are related.
