Downtown dumpster fire causes $160K damage
A London man has been arrested after a dumpster fire outside of a downtown apartment building spread to several nearby vehicles, causing $160,000 damage.
Firefighters were called to Picton Street, south of Dufferin Avenue around 3 a.m. Tuesday. The fire was allegedly intentionally set inside of recycling bins at an apartment building.
Video from the scene posted to social media shows the flames consumed at least two nearby vehicles and damaged a third before fire crews were able to extinguish the blaze.
The building was evacuated as a precaution and no injuries were reported.
A London man was arrested, but so far no charges have been laid.
“Members of the London Police Service Street Crime Unit, with the assistance of the London Fire Department, continue to investigate,” police said.
