What is being referred to as a "cybersecurity incident" has forced the LCBO to temporarily shut down its website and mobile app.
The provincial Crown corporation first notified the public about the online issue Tuesday afternoon. Hours later, it posted to social media to reassure its customers that it was investigating the breach.
"The LCBO is responding to a cybersecurity incident affecting LCBO.com,” said the LCBO statement. “While a full investigation is underway, LCBO.com and our mobile app are unavailable. The in-store experience remains unaffected. We thank our customers for their patience and understanding.”
LCBO officials offered no details about the cybersecurity incident and whether any personal or financial customer information has been compromised.
As of Wednesday morning, the website and mobile app remained down with no indication of when they would be restored.
